| 2004 Federal District
Court of Oregon has ordered the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to determine
whether the southern Idaho ground squirrel (and the sand dune lizard [New
Mexico] and Taho yellow cress [??]) warrant protection under the Endangered
Species Act. The Service is required to issue a decision by December 20,
2004. The squirrel was previously listed as a "candidate" species
