The Sagebrush Sea is inhabited by diverse fishes, including a number of endemic species.

Lahontan Cutthroat Trout. Listed as an endangered species in 1970, but reclassified as threatened in 1975 to facilitate management and allow for regulated angling. Three distinct population segments exist in Nevada, southeastern Oregon, and eastern California.
